Stress is perceived to be public enemy number one for our minds. There are studies which correlate stress levels with contracting various diseases and overall decrease in quality of life. But how about looking at stress as a necessary element in our lives? As something which we do not need to remove, but simply transform into positive behaviors?
In most cases, we tend to blame stress for our own lack of productivity, organization or proper focus on our recurrent actions. In order to significantly reduce anxiety whenever responsibilities seem to overwhelm us, we can start by organizing our time better and plan our activities more efficiently.
Technology also plays an important role in relieving our memory from all the different types of activities we have on our “to do” list. There is a wide variety of apps which allow us to focus on the most important tasks at hand.
A practice with increasing popularity is mindfulness, which is also meant to increase your focus, but this time, over your own person. It is important to direct all our attention inwards, towards our own selves, at least once in a while. This will help us distance ourselves from disturbing factors which generate stress.
If you’re not a fan of Yoga or meditation, than practice any kind of sport! Being active makes us happier and more joyful due to the release of endorphin. It is also a proven fact that when we don’t get enough sleep, we tend to become more irritable and have increasing levels of anxiety as our energy depletes. Being active helps us to sleep better and stress levels will be significantly diminished after a good night’s sleep.
Oftentimes, one of the most important factors contributing to high stress is separating our own personal and professional lives. When we thrive professionally, but forget to take care of our personal life, anxiety grows and, with it, our stress levels. We need to find our own balance between the two in order to release ourselves from anxiety and make way for personal satisfaction.
In conclusion, stress will always be a part of our lives, but we can choose to use it as motivation to hack our lives towards a healthier lifestyle.
